Trail Building

This page is dedicated to providing the public with regular updates on our trail building efforts for mountain biking in Fort McMurray.

MONDAY NIGHT MAINTENANCE:

Attention mountain bikers, trail runners, hikers, dog walkers, and other trail users! You may have noticed that the unsanctioned singletrack trails in Thickwood are getting very overgrown. A hardy few are attempting to tame the thriving vegetation but we could use your help. Every Monday at 6pm we will be trimming, raking, and performing maintenance on a select trail. The trail to be addressed will be announced each week along with the meeting location. If you have any questions feel free to post!

Date/Time: July 17th, 2017, at 6pm.
Trail: The Edge
Meeting location: Ross Hennigar Park

What to bring:
-water
-work gloves/safety glasses
-weather appropriate clothing
-bug spray
-tools**

**Unfortunately, we do not have extra tools available. Tools that are very useful include grass trimmers or brush cutters, machetes/brush axes, and bow or level head rakes.

Upcoming Projects – Little Fisheries.

WBCC committee member, Cameron Redshaw, has recently started a movement towards fixing up Little Fisheries, a very popular place for mountain bikers, trail runners, and hikers.

His most recent updated posted on facebook says:

“Hi folks. I’m starting to spread awareness for some trail work that will be starting this year in Little Fisheries out at the top of the golf course hill on Real Martin Dr. The Wood Buffalo Cycling Club is applying with AEP [Alberta Environment and Parks] to do some maintenance and development in the trail system that will be for non-motorized users. We’ll be looking for volunteers interested in helping out with some of the work later this spring/summer. Stay tuned for more information and feel free to comment or contact me with any questions.”

WE NEED HELP!

If you are interested in helping please contact us by sending an email to Cameron Redshaw: cameron.redshaw@gmail.com
